Clementine Belle McIntosh’s Canvas Works investigate the traditional use of canvas and stretcher to translate her lived experiences within place. The agency of the materials is called to question, as the works aim to sustainably coexist within the natural cycles of the environment. Using plant based dyes and found materials, the surfaces of the works are stained, buried and/or wrapped to capture atmospheric imprints from site specific processes.
What remains is the materialisation of raw moments felt in place and subtle pictorial cues to the experiences themselves.
